John Gibson made 31 saves for the Anaheim Ducks in a 1-0 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday in Glendale, Ariz.
It was the second shutout of the season for Gibson and 21st of his NHL career.
Danton Heinen scored his first goal of the season for Anaheim, which has allowed 14 goals in seven games.
Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves for Arizona, which was coming off a 1-0 loss to the visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday.
The Ducks missed a chance to take an early lead when Kuemper turned away Ryan Getzlaf on a breakaway, but Heinen gave Anaheim a 1-0 lead with his first goal of the season at 10:59 of the first period.
Heinen stole the puck from Drake Caggiula in the right circle of the Arizona zone, avoided losing it back to Caggiula, and then scored the unassisted goal on a wrist shot into the top left corner.
After Gibson made 10 saves in the first period, the Coyotes kept the puck hemmed in the Anaheim zone for long stretches of the second, forcing Gibson to make 14 more saves.
Caggiula had a prime scoring chance off a centering pass, but shot the puck over the wide open net at 6:58 of the second.
The Ducks, who came in ranked third in the NHL in penalty kill at 85.9 percent, killed all three power plays by the Coyotes to improve to 20-for-22 on the season.
Anaheim went 0 for 1 on the power play and is 0-for-16 on the season, the only NHL team without a power-play goal.
Ben Hutton and Vinni Lettieri made their debuts for the Ducks.
Hutton, who played last season with the Los Angeles Kings, moved into the lineup for defenseman Andy Welinski and was a plus-1 with three blocked shots and four hits.
Lettieri, who played two seasons with the New York Rangers before spending last season in the American Hockey League, moved into the lineup for right wing Troy Terry and was a plus-1 with four hits.
